EDT Learning Wins a Silver Award in the Excellence in E-Learning Program

- Brandon Hall and Online Learning Magazine Bestow Honor -

LOS ANGELES (October 3, 2001) - EDT Learning announced today at the Online Learning Conference that its series e-Business: Competing in the New Digital Economy has been awarded an Excellence in E-learning Silver Award by brandon-hall.com and Online Learning magazine in the category of Innovative Technology.

The e-Business Series provides the foundation that employees need to help their companies adapt quickly to the Web culture and develop the best practices—in strategy, marketing, technology, and other areas—that enable them to succeed in this environment. Six 3-hour courses engage learners with stimulating content and thought-provoking activities, raising their awareness of e-business issues and equipping them with skills that will help them take advantage of e-business opportunities. The seventh course, a sophisticated simulation, lets learners work through a real-world situation as they make decisions for a fictitious company's new e-business venture.

"We are honored to receive this award," said George Weathersby, CEO of EDT Learning, when accepting the award. "It emphasizes EDT Learning's strength of helping companies implement their new business strategies by providing one-on-one experiences to their employees. The e-Business Series enables employees to gain a deeper understanding and skill set to effectively implement their company's goals."

Now in its fifth year, the Excellence in E-Learning program (formerly the Brandon Hall of Fame Awards) showcases exceptional work in the e-learning industry by providing feedback and benchmarking to entrants in an overall effort to help advance the industry.

As they have each year, the winning entries pushed the bar higher than in the year before. This year, 103 entries were submitted in the Custom Content and Innovative Technology categories, and they were evaluated by more than 90 judges with expertise in instructional design and online or multimedia training. In the Innovative Technology category there were 3 Gold Award winners, 8 Silver Award winners and 13 Worthy of Note Award winners. Other contest categories were Authoring Tools, IT Course Content Providers, Learning Management Systems and Live E-Learning Tools.

"We're excited about the depth of the award winners this year," says Brandon Hall, Ph.D., lead researcher for brandon-hall.com and chairman of the Excellence in E-learning Awards Program. "These companies are making huge strides in advancing e-learning, and we're really starting to see some high-quality content being created with the tools that are out there."
