The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and EDT Learning Launch the Online Bridge Program
- Online Solution Helps Answer High Demand Among Corporations for "Business Boot camp" to Teach Business Basics -
HANOVER, NH (September 10, 2001) - The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and EDT Learning, a premiere company that designs and develops online solutions to help individuals and organizations excel, today launched The Online Bridge Program™, an adaptation of the school's renowned Tuck Business Bridge Program®.
The Business Bridge Program has successfully served as a business boot camp for top liberal arts graduates joining such blue-chip corporations as American Express, Fidelity, General Mills, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Co., Quaker Oats, and Pfizer. However, demand for seats at the 5-year-old in-residence program has far exceeded capacity.
The Online Bridge Program was created to help answer this high demand among corporations for a total-immersion business basics program.
The Online Bridge Program draws on the expertise of the same Tuck MBA faculty who created the popular on-the-ground program. The program immerses learners in a rigorous introduction to business fundamentals. Working through case-based exercises, participants develop the critical decision-making skills they need to succeed in challenging business environments and to contribute substantially to the organizations for which they work. The program, whose full name is Online Bridge Program: Mastering Essential Business Skills, is divided into four series, one for each core topicFinancial Accounting, Finance, Managerial Economics, and Marketingand comprises 25 courses, each 3 hours long.
"The Online Bridge Program is a compelling educational experience that closely mirrors our very successful 'face-to-face' sessions," said Paul Danos, dean of the Tuck School of Business. "It gives students all over the world the opportunity to prepare themselves for the business challenges they will face as they enter the workforce for the first time or as they take on new levels of responsibility within an organization."
Danos explained why Tuck chose to partner with EDT Learning. "EDT Learning is a clear leader in providing distance education to corporations around the world," said Danos. "We believe its expertise in developing state-of-the-art e-learning programs is perfectly synergistic with our faculty's expertise in the teaching of business."
Said George Weathersby, CEO of EDT Learning, "There's a great need for this program in the marketplace today. Targeted at high-potential employees lacking traditional business training, the Online Bridge Program will help corporations increase the value of their most important assettheir people. By giving employees the fundamental skills they need to compete, this program will help corporations meet their business objectives in today's challenging environment."
